FINDING YOURSELF AMONG STRANGERS: ADVENTURUS WOMEN OUTDOOR ADVENTURES

If you join one of the AdventurUs Women outdoor adventures for women by women you will find yourself among strangers… literally and figuratively. You will arrive maybe knowing someone you came with or have met at a previous Escape. Most likely you will arrive finding yourself among strangers. We have good news though! These women will not be strangers for long as you will quickly find cheerleaders, friends, roommates, classmates, and more amongst them. 

How do we find ourselves among strangers? We immediately see what makes us different – our age, our color, our size. It is harder to see the invisible strings that connect us all. Yet, if we take the time to get to know each other we discover what we already know… we are so much more than what we see on the outside.

WE ARE –

MOTHERS, GRANDMOTHERS, DAUGHTERS, SISTERS, ENTREPRENEURS, BUSINESSWOMEN, FIREFIGHTERS, ENGINEERS, FILMMAKERS, ARTISTS, PHOTOGRAPHERS, DOCTORS, NURSES, EDUCATORS, LAWYERS, WRITERS, COMMUNITY ORGANIZERS, ACTIVISTS, GUIDES, HEALERS, WINEMAKERS, PODCASTERS, COACHES.

WE ARE –

JOYFUL, SAD, CONFIDENT, INSECURE, ANGRY, DETERMINED, DEFEATED, SUCCESSFUL, LONELY, CONNECTED, LOVED.

WE SHARE –

WHAT IT MEANS TO IDENTIFY AS A WOMAN, THE STRUGGLES THAT WE FACE TOGETHER AND ALONE, THE NEED FOR COMMUNITY, AND THE DESIRE TO FIND A COMMUNITY THAT ACCEPTS YOU FOR WHO YOU ARE.

WE SHARE – OUR DESIRE TO BE OUTDOORS

BECAUSE WE FEEL BETTER WHEN THE SUN IS SHINING DOWN ON US, WHEN WE ARE COVERED IN DUST FROM THE TRAIL, WHEN THE TREES ARE PROVIDING US SHADE, WHEN THERE IS DIRT UNDER OUR FINGERNAILS AND SWEAT IS ON OUR BROW.

BECAUSE WE FEEL BETTER WHEN WE ARE MOVING OUR BODIES, WHEN WE ARE QUIETING OUR MINDS, WHEN WE ARE LISTENING TO THE WIND AND THE BIRDS, WHEN WE ARE EMBRACING NATURE AS A DISTRACTION OR MAYBE AS AN ESCAPE.

We strive to build communities that celebrate how we are unique, special, individual. We also strive to build communities based on the beautiful connections that we share and unite us.

As we spend time outdoors, we are experiencing new things, with new people, looking deep inside, living in the moment, facing new challenges and fears, redefining who we are, and what we are capable of. The result is that we become more connected to who we are or want to be.

It is here, among strangers, that we find ourselves.
