Switzerland·3 - 10 August 2023
Join us for a 8-day women-led guided hiking adventure in the Oberland region of the Swiss Alps!
ENQUIRENEW FOR 2023! So there we were in the Dolomites having an amazing time, sad that our trip was coming to an end, and the question came up “where are we going next year?” We asked our guides, Francoise & Karin, where their favorite places to go were and without hesitation they said Oberland. So we have added this trip to our 2023 calendar! Hiking in Oberland means discovering panoramas of striking beauty: green mountain pastures, deep forests, waterfalls, magnificent lakes, famous Bernese mountains, Eiger, Monch, Jungfrau… and many more snow-capped peaks. We will share unforgettable moments, discovering some classic valleys of the Bernese Alps: Grindelwald valley at the foot of the Eiger, Kandersteg Valley and Leukeurbad, Dala Valley above Rhone valley with its famous thermals, all propose very different atmospheres! Plan on hiking 6-7 hrs / 7-1O miles per day. Vertical ascents vary each day with an average of 2,500 ft per day. The trails are well kept, but rocky in places. Boots with ankle support are needed and walking poles will be very useful. As the trip is vehicle supported we are able to enjoy the wonderful scenery with only light day-packs. We will fly in and out of Geneva for this trip.

THE BERNESE OBERLAND
The Bernese Oberland (German: Berner Oberland; Alemannic German: Bärner Oberland; French: Oberland bernois; fully translated as "Bernese Highlands") is the highest and southernmost part of the canton of Bern, and one of the canton's five administrative regions (in which context it is referred to as Oberland without further specification). It constitutes the Alpine region of the canton and the northern side of the Bernese Alps, including many of its highest peaks, among which the Finsteraarhorn (4,274 m (14,022 ft)), the highest in both range and canton.
The numerous side valleys of the Bernese Oberland include a large number of Alpine villages, many of them being tourist resorts and connected by mountain railways to Spiez and Interlaken.
The Swiss German dialects spoken in the Bernese Oberland are Highest Alemannic German, contrasting with the High Alemannic Bernese German spoken in Bern and the northern parts of the canton. Source: Wikipedia

Geneva, in French Genève, is the capital of Genève canton, in the far southwestern corner of Switzerland that juts into France. One of Europe’s most cosmopolitan cities, Geneva has served as a model for republican government and owes its preeminence to the triumph of human, rather than geographic, factors. It developed its unique character from the 16th century, when, as the center of the Calvinist Reformation, it became the “Protestant Rome.” The canton of Genève has a total area of 109 square miles (282 square kilometres), of which seven square miles constitute the city proper. We will be enjoying our days of hiking, eating and taking a million pictures and will not be rushed. That being said - we encourage participant to be in good hiking shape prior to the trip for a more enjoyable experience. We will work with each participant to make sure they have a training plan to make sure the trip is enjoyable!
Our international trips require a deposit of 50%. 10% of the full trip price is non-refundable. If the Participant cancels 91 or more days before the Activity, they shall receive a full refund minus a cancellation fee of 15% of the full trip amount; Within 61-90 days before the Activity, a 50% refund will be given; Within 60 days of the Activity, there are no refunds given, no exceptions. To ensure your experience is unforgettable much of our planning is finalized in the months leading up to the trip. Scheduling of guides, permits, accommodations, food planning, goodie bags, and all the little things that make our events great get finalized manually. Cancellations within the 90-day window incur costs that we cannot recoup. Last minute cancellations within 60 days are even harder as we often cannot fill the vacated spot on short notice. Our cancellation policy ensures the best possible experience for everyone. We strongly recommend purchasing "cancel for any reason" trip insurance.
We will split our time between the villages of Grindelwald and the Kandersteg Valley. Staying in two hotels for the entire trip allows us to focus on the hiking and touring, not packing and repacking!
We will be meeting at the Geneva International Airport on August 3rd. Our shuttle will meet us there and we will leave at 1pm. We highly recommend arriving in Geneva on the 2nd and joining everyone for our group dinner. We will share lodging recommendations with confirmed participants.
